Prof. Mark Rodwell, ECE Department,
UCSB
RF/Microwave circuits. Transistor,
transmission-line, and passive element characteristics. Transmission-line
theory and impedance matching. Amplifier design for maximum available gain.
Amplifier stability. Gain compression and power limits. Introduction to noise
figure, and to intermodulation distortion.
The primary course reference material is the online lecture
note set. You will also need one quality RF IC design text. If you don't have
one, recommended texts would include (but not be restricted to):
Thomas H. Lee: The Design of CMOS Radio-Frequency Integrated
Circuits, Second Edition
Guillermo Gonzalez Microwave Transistor Amplifiers: Analysis and Design (2nd Edition)
