Degree Requirements

To receive a Computer Engineering degree from UCSB, students must satisfy the following requirements:

MAJOR - Computer Engineering Degree Requirements

Preparation for the Major (75 units), Upper Division Major (68 units), and Math, Science, Engineering Elective (4 units) must be satisfied. GPA requirements must be satisfied.

Major requirements are administered by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

Senior Elective Study Plan

During the junior year students must complete and submit a senior sequence elective study plan (CE Senior Elective Sheet). Courses are referred to as CMPEN Electives during the Senior year on the Four Year Course Plan.

  • Early Fall Quarter: mandatory Junior meeting to discuss the elective study plan
  • Last Day of Instruction during the Spring quarter of the Junior year: CE Senior Elective Sheet must be turned in to the ECE Undergraduate Staff Advisor or the following Fall enrollment will be blocked

COLLEGE - College of Engineering (CoE) - General Education Requirements

All undergraduate students must satisfy the general education (General and Subject Area) requirements for the College of Engineering.

UNIVERSITY - UC, Santa Barbara (UCSB) - General University Requirements

All undergraduate students must satisfy University academic residency, UC Entry Level Writing Requirement, American History and Institutions, unit, and scholarship requirements.

Both CoE General Education and General University Requirements are administered by the College of Engineering.
