The award was sponsored by the Optical Society of America (OSA) and was presented to Bowen by OSA president Eric Mazur. This is a well-deserved recognition for the development of 3D hybrid silicon lasers, which have demonstrated superior thermal performance while maintaining fabrication simplicity and robustness.
