I am actively looking for motivated students with strong mathematical background and potential interest in the broad areas of high-dimensional data analysis, mathematical optimization and signal-processing to join my research group at UCSB. Browsing this website you will find relevant information on my research interests and representative research projects. If any of these sound interesting, please don't hesitate to contact me by e-mail! Prospective students click here to apply to the ECE Department.

I am a new Assistant Professor in the ECE Department at UCSB.

My ongoing research lies at the intersection of high-dimensional statistics, mathematical optimization, signal-processing and aspects of learning.

Broadly, I am driven by the challenge of improving the quality of information extraction in high-dimensional inference problems that commonly arise in emerging scientific and engineering applications, such as Phase-retrieval, Compressed Sensing, Massive MIMO wireless networks, computational imaging, etc. My research involves physical modeling, as well as, the design and mathematical understanding of computationally efficient inference algorithms. I often find it useful to use tools from more theoretical subjects such as convex geometry, high-dimensional probability, statistical physics, etc. Please see here for more details on my past and ongoing research interests.

Prior to joining UCSB I spent two years as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at MIT sponsored by Prof. Gregory W. Wornell. I obtained my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech in 2016 with Prof. Babak Hassibi as my advisor. Prior to this, I earned my Diploma of ECE at the University of Patras, Greece, where I was supervised by Professors George Moustakides and Dimitris Toumpakaris.

  • [October 04] Presented our work on high-dimensional inference from quantized measurements at the Allerton conference (Slides).

  • [September 18] I am spending the Fall quarter at MIT as a Visiting Research Scientist.

  • [August 30] A nice article in Quantamagazine about new techniques of non-line-of-sight imaging including our work.
