Network Printer Installation

Find printer you wish to print to and manually ask it to print it's own configuration page. Note the brand an model.

Find the drivers online for this printer using the brand and model name. There may also be additional details on the configuration page which help with this. Pay attention to where it drops the .inf driver file.

Download and install driver

Windows XP: Start->Printers and Faxes->Add Printer (This opens the add printer wizard)

(Welcome Page)NEXT->(Local or Network)Choose Local and UNCHECK Auto Plug-and-Play (This is counter intuitive!!) ->NEXT

(Select a Printer Port)Create a new port: Type: Standard TCP/IP ->NEXT

(Welcome Page)NEXT->(Add Port)Type in the IP Address from the configuration page you printed (Port name doesn't matter) ->NEXT->FINISH

Now it will ask for the driver location. This will be something you get from the driver installation, sometimes it's automatic and sometimes it has a funny place it drops the file. Click Have Disk, follow the instructions and locate it. Click next until it is finished.
