Dr. Doylend hails from Canada, a country known to have been founded on the premise that one nation could successfully combine French cooking, British culture, and American know-how. In fact the result was somewhat less inspiring, being a combination of British cooking, American culture, and French know-how. Nonetheless, he maintains his northern identity with great zeal, particularly during the Stanley Cup playoffs, and eschews American beer whenever possible ("whenever possible" here taken to mean "whenever there is no other beer available").
