We have two 1310nm DFBs.  They are mounted on PCBs and in homemade chassis boxes.  They require +5V, -5V, and +24V power supplies, which are provided to the BNCs on the outside of the boxes.  The ground terminals of the BNCs are all connected inside the box, but these connections are somewhat fragile so it is best to connect all the power supply grounds externally.  The lasers are static-sensitive, so be sure to ground yourself before opening the boxes.  They output around 8dBm of optical power.
