Seyran
Saeedi, PhD
Seyran received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from
Virginia Commonwealth University in Dec 2020. Seyran's
research mostly focuses on quantum algorithms for machine
learning and AI applications. She joined UCSB in March 2021
and is currently working on tensor-networks for quantum
machine learning and quantum algorithms for some
combinatorial problems in AI.

Junnan
Shan, PhD
Junnan Shan received her Ph.D. in the Department of
Electronics and Telecommunications from Politecnico di
Torino, Italy in March 2021. Her research interests focus on
electronic design automation, system-level design,
low-power, and high-performance computing, and high-level
synthesis. She joined UCSB in September 2021 and is
currently working on tensorized on-device training of
machine learning algorithms.

Zi Yang, PhD
Zi received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the
University of California San Diego. His research work
focused on optimization and tensors. He joined UCSB in
September 2021 and is currently working on low-precision
tensor optimization algorithms for machine learning.

Cole Hawkins, PhD student in Math
Google Scholar Cole received his B.A. degree in
Mathematics from Amherst College, Amherst, MA, in 2016. He
started his gradaute study in the Math Department at UCSB in
2016, and joined our group in Fall 2017. He is interested in
tensor computation, uncertainty quantification, and Bayesian
inference.

Zichang He, MSc/PhD student in ECE Google
Scholar Zichang received his B.Eng. degree in Detection, Guidance
and Control Technology from the Northwestern Polytechnical
University of China in 2018. He joined UCSB in fall 2018, and he is
interested in uncertainty quantification and statistical inference
for tensor computation.

Jianyu Xu, MSc/PhD student in Computer
Science
Jianyu received
his B.Eng. degree in Measurement & Control Technology and Instrument
from Tsinghua University in China, in the year 2019. He joined UCSB
in fall 2019, and he is interested in tensor networks, tensor
calculus, dynamic pricing and computational complexity. He is also
good at combinatorics. He is co-advised by Prof. Zhang and Prof. Yu-Xiang
Wang. |

Zhuotong
Chen, MSc/PhD student in ECE
Google Scholar
Zhuotong received his B.S. in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from University of Manitoba, MB,
Canada, in 2018. He joined us in
spring 2019 firstly as a visiting student, then as a MSc/
PhD student. He previously worked on tensor methods for
computational electromagnetic. Currently he is working on
robustness, safety and stability of machine learning from
ODE/PDE and optimal control perspectives.

Ahmed's thesis adviser is Prof.
Li-C. Wang, and he got his PhD in ECE in 2019. Ahmed worked with us in 2018. Our collaborative
work on tensor methods for semiconductor yield data analysis
lead to the body section of his PhD dissertation. Currently

Chenhui Deng |
Chenhui received his

Ziming Liu

Ziming receive his bachelor’s degree in physics at Peking
University in 2020. He joined us as a summer intern in 2019. During his summer intern, we proposed a novel
Hamiltonian Monte Carlo algorithm inspired from quantum mechanics,
and the paper draft is available at

Currently he is a PhD student of Physics at MIT, where he works on
the interface of artificial intelligence (AI) and physics. |

Weiyun received his B.
Sc degree in ECE at UCSB in 2020. He joined our group in the summer
of 2018, and worked on a set of topics including electronic design
automation, algorithm/hardware co-design for tensor data
analysis, quantum circuit simulation, and machine learning
for electromagnetic simulation. Currently he is a graduate student

Max received his B.A.
