Jinming Lu, Postdoc Scholar Jinming received his B.S.
degree in microelectronics from Nankai University in 2018,
and his Ph.D. degree in information and communication
engineering from Nanjing University in 2023. He joined UCSB
as a Postdoc scholar in April 2024. His research interests
include model compression, hardware acceleration, and
on-device training for neural networks. |

Jiayi Tian, MSc/PhD student in ECE
Jiayi received her
B.Eng. degree in the Department of Electronic Science and
Engineering from Nanjing University in 2023, and she joined UCSB in
fall 2023. Currently she is working on hardware accelerator design
for efficient Transformer training.

Zhuotong
Chen, MSc/PhD student in ECE
Google Scholar
Zhuotong received his B.S. in Electrical
and Computer Engineering from University of Manitoba, MB,
Canada, in 2018. He joined us in
spring 2019 firstly as a visiting student, then as a MSc/
PhD student. He previously worked on tensor methods for
computational electromagnetic. Currently he is working on
robustness, safety and stability of machine learning from
ODE/PDE and optimal control perspectives.

Yifan Yang, MSc/PhD student in
Computer Science

Yifan received his
B.Eng. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from the
Huazhong University of Science and Technology of China in 2021. He
joined UCSB in fall 2021, and he is working on efficient training
algorithms for large language models (LLM).

Ziyue (Alvin) Liu, PhD student in
Computer Science
Google Scholar
Alvin received his B.S.
degree in Statistics at Nankai University in China, 2020. He started
his graduate study in the PSTAT department at UCSB in Fall 2021, and
joined our group in Jan. 2022.
He's
currently working on physics-informed operator learning and
efficient pre-training of large language models.

Rahul Singh, PhD student in ECE
Rahul received his BS
and MS degrees in Physics from the Indian Institute of Science
Education and Research Kolkata in 2021. In 2022, he joined the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UCSB as a PhD
student. His research interests include quantum machine learning and
quantum AI.

Yequan Zhao, MSc/PhD student in ECE
Yequan received his
B.Eng. degree from the School of Integrated Circuits at Huazhong
University of Science and Technology in 2023. He joined us in Fall
2022 firstly as a visiting student, then as a M.S./Ph.D. student in
Fall 2023. Currently, he is working on tensor-compressed methods for
back-propagation-free training, physics-informed neural networks,
and optical neural networks.

Zhengyang received his B.S. degree
in Computer Science at University of Science and Technology of
China in 2022. He started his PhD study in Fall 2022, and joined
our group in Fall 2023. His research interest lies in machine
learning system and low precision training

Xinling Yu, PhD student in ECE
Xinling received his
B.S. degree in applied mathematics from Beijing University of Posts
and Telecommunications in 2019 and his M.A. degree in applied
mathematics and computational science from University of
Pennsylvania in 2021. He joined UCSB in fall 2021, and he is
interested in computational mathematics and data-driven modeling.

Jiajun Zhou, Visiting PhD
Student,
Google Scholar
Jiajun joined UCSB as a
visiting scholar in September 2023. He is currently a Ph.D. student
at the University of Hong Kong and obtained his M.S. degree in 2019
at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Additionally,
he worked as an engineer at the Hong Kong Applied Science and
Technology Research Institute from 2019 to 2021. Besides, he joined
the AioT lab in the Information Engineering department at the
Chinese University of Hong Kong as a research assistant in 2021. His
research interests include LLM fine-tuning, model compression,
mixed-precision training/quantization, and hardware acceleration.
